Pond Elimination Technology
Derrick Corporation’s Pond Elimination Technology eliminates settlement ponds in aggregate production and achieves zero downtime by eliminating belt press and plate and frame press units. The system consists of a Derrick HI-G® Dryer, Vertical Tower (VT) high-compression thickeners, and high-speed DE-7200™ centrifuge.

The HI-G Dryer with Derrick hydrocyclones receives discharge flow from a screw classifier or other feed source. Oversize material containing 85 percent solids is discharged from the HI-G Dryer and recovered as product. Hydrocyclone overflow is directed to the Derrick VT high-compression thickeners where classified water from top of the VT thickeners is returned to the system feed source. Thickened material is fed to the DE-7200 centrifuge for dewatering and compaction.

The DE-7200 centrifuge operates at speeds up to 3000RPM and generates up to 2750 Gs. Feed received from the thickeners is distributed into the interior of the rotating bowl where the high G force squeezes out liquid and compacts the material into a stackable and conveyable form at 75 percent plus solids (by weight). The dewatered material is then conveyed out the solid discharge end, and the clear liquid discharge is returned to the VT tanks.
